WOJCIECH CELLARY, PhD, is currently a professor at WSB Merito University in Poznan.

In 1974, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Poznan University of Technology and began working at the Institute of Automation, later renamed the Institute of Computer Science. In 1977, he defended his doctoral dissertation, in 1981 he obtained his postdoctoral degree (habilitation), and in 1989 he was awarded the academic title of professor.

From 1974 to 1992, he worked at the Poznan University of Technology, where he served as Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Computer Science from 1987 to 1991.

From 1992 to 1996, he worked at the Franco-Polish School of New Information and Communication Technologies in Poznan, where he served as Vice-Rector for Science.

From 1996 to 2021, he worked at the Poznan University of Economics, serving as Head of the Department of Information Technology.

From 2021 to present, he has been working at WSB Merito University in Poznan.

In addition, he has been employed at the following universities abroad:

  • 17 months at the University of Nancy I (France) in 1978, 1983 and 1991,
  • 2 months at the University of Nancy II (France) in 1992,
  • 16 months at the University of Paris-Sud (France) during 1985-1990,
  • 7 months at the University of Paris-Dauphine (France) during 1990-2000,
  • 3 months at the University of Genova (Italy) in 1980,
  • 3 months at the University of Ancona (Italy) during 1989-1991;

He has been a visiting professor at the following universities abroad:

  • 1 month at the United Nations University in Macao (China) in 2012;
  • 1 month at the United Nations University in Guimaraes (Portugal) in 2015.

Prof. W. Cellary was the manager of 83 research and industrial projects concerning the development of computer hardware and software systems and their applications in telecommunications, the computer industry, power engineering, education, and administration. These projects were funded by Polish, French, and American industry, as well as the European Union’s 4th, 5th, and 6th Framework Programs. He is the co-author of 3 European patents.

He was the main organizer of 64 scientific conferences, both national and international, and a member of the program committees of another 430 conferences. He is the author or co-author of numerous publications: 10 books, 17 books as editor, 3 published reports, 33 book chapters, 164 articles in journals and conference proceedings, and 77 features on IT published in the daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza from 2013 to 2022.

In addition to his scientific and teaching work, his professional activities include consulting, membership in numerous professional organizations, editorial boards of scientific journals, expert groups, committees, councils, and associations, as well as the dissemination of science in the media. In 2002, he was Poland’s representative at the UN General Assembly on “ICT for Development.”

He has supervised 18 doctoral students, 6 of whom subsequently obtained habilitations, and 2 the title of professor. He is the winner of 54 awards for achievements in scientific and teaching work, including the Individual Award of the Minister of Education and Science for lifetime scientific achievements, awarded in 2021.

His lectures in Polish, English, and French have been attended by over 20,000 students.
